From Kidney Transplant to Representing Wales: Kyle Foster’s Transcend Performance Journey

4 min read

For Kyle Foster, the journey behind Transcend Performance is about far more than qualifications, sport or starting a business. It is a story shaped by a life-changing kidney transplant, a determination to test his own limits and a growing commitment to helping other people move, recover and perform with confidence.

Now providing mobile sports massage, injury support, rehabilitation and recovery services across South Wales, Kyle is also preparing for a special personal milestone: representing Wales at the 2026 Transplant Football World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany.

It will be another extraordinary chapter in a journey that has already taken him from transplant surgery to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro—and onto the international football stage.

A life-changing kidney transplant

In December 2011, Kyle received a kidney donated by his father. The transplant gave him a second chance at life and became a defining moment in the story that followed.

Life after a transplant can involve physical and emotional challenges, but Kyle was determined not to allow those challenges to define what he could achieve. Almost four years later, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, demonstrating the resilience and ambition that would eventually help inspire the identity of Transcend Performance.

The mountain within the brand represents more than reaching a physical summit. It reflects Kyle’s belief in growth, perseverance and helping people work towards their own version of peak performance.

Discovering what is possible after transplantation

Sport has played an important role in Kyle’s life following his transplant. He has represented Wales at the British Transplant Games in several events and plays for the Wales Transplant Football Team.

In 2024, Kyle travelled to Cervia, Italy, to represent Wales at the inaugural Transplant Football World Cup. The competition brought transplant recipients together from different countries, using football to celebrate life after transplantation and increase awareness of organ donation.

For Kyle, pulling on the Welsh shirt was both a sporting achievement and an opportunity to demonstrate what can be possible following a transplant. In 2026, he will have that privilege again when he travels to Frankfurt for his second Transplant Football World Cup.

Building Transcend Performance

Kyle’s personal experiences have been accompanied by a continued investment in professional training and education.

He is a qualified Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer and Level 4 Nutrition Coach. He is also preparing to enter the second year of his BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Therapy degree at the University of South Wales, where he is expanding his knowledge of sports injuries, rehabilitation, movement and performance.

Through Transcend Performance, Kyle takes a practical and individual approach. Rather than offering the same solution to everybody, he aims to understand each person’s circumstances, needs and goals.

Mobile sports massage and recovery across South Wales

Transcend Performance now operates as a mobile service rather than from a permanent clinic. This allows Kyle to provide support to clients in their own homes or another suitable setting across South Wales.

Services include:

  • Sports massage

  • Injury support

  • Rehabilitation and recovery

  • Personal training

  • Nutrition support

  • Pitch-side sports support

The service is suitable for people returning to activity after an injury, managing everyday aches and physical demands, training for a sport or simply wanting to move and feel better. Support is adapted around the individual instead of being restricted to competitive athletes.

Developing experience within Welsh football

Alongside his studies and mobile work, Kyle is building further practical experience with a local football team. His role includes pitch-side first aid, sports massage, injury assessment, rehabilitation and player support.

Working directly within a sporting environment gives him experience of supporting players through different stages—from immediate pitch-side situations to recovery and a gradual return to activity.

This combination of academic learning, professional qualifications, personal experience and practical football involvement continues to shape the development of Transcend Performance.

Preparing to represent Wales in Frankfurt

Kyle is now preparing to travel to Frankfurt with the Wales Transplant Football Team for the 2026 Transplant Football World Cup.

The team is self-funded, meaning players and coaches are responsible for meeting the costs associated with travel, accommodation, tournament registration and taking part in the competition. Kyle has launched a fundraising campaign to help cover his costs and support his journey to Germany.

Representing Wales for a second time carries enormous personal significance. It marks almost 15 years since his transplant and offers another chance to honour the gift his father gave him while representing his country on an international stage.

More than a football tournament

Although the competition takes place on a football pitch, its purpose reaches much further.

The Transplant Football World Cup provides a visible celebration of life after transplantation. It helps transplant recipients connect through shared experiences while drawing attention to organ donation and the difference donors and their families can make.

Kyle’s story is a reminder that a transplant is not necessarily the end of an active or ambitious life. His journey has included climbing one of the world’s most recognisable mountains, developing a career in sports therapy, building a South Wales business and representing Wales through football.

That same understanding of setbacks, recovery and gradual progress sits at the heart of his work

with Transcend Performance.
